Seems like CCP is going to do something about GTC sales for ISK. Kieron said that changes are coming. This will propably mean end of GTC sales and drop in player base, but at least it will easy lag ..

If so, id love to know the reasons why, somebodys pushed a button somewhere.. i don't belive they would suddenly have had a change of heart after ignoring it for so long.

What you mean by "about time"? I for one think that it's cool to have game where your allowed to spend extra euros and convert them to ingame cash OR pay your accounts for ingame cash if your kinda short for euros in real life.
I just hope that if I now go and buy 90-day codes, they will work after CCP bans GTC's

I suppose it is hard to expect 3rd parties like eBay to ***** down on RMT when you are engaged in it yourself.
Assuming the eBay policy changes have teeth, the obvious method for RMT farmers to keep operating is to buy GTCs and then sell the GTCs for cash.
As the farmers could probably out bid legitimate players after GTCs for isk, CCP will need to do something.
In times of doubt I ask myself "What would BoB do?", and then do the opposite. |

1) Anyone who cannot stand those retarded sigs, use Firefox and Adblock - bingo, never have to see them again.
2) About the OP - GOOD. Time to end the RMT, it cheapens the game and to quote a senior EVE GM "buying your way ahead in EVE is cheating".

well I unlike some can not spend 8 hours a day playing Eve, so being able to sell a GTC once every 4 months or so is an option I would not like to lose. Its not like I take it and buy up T2 bpos. And the whole issue of GTC for ISK has been dealt with, there is a thread in the sell forum.
they should friggin forum ban anyone for posting the same stupid thread for the 100th time for a week.

I wouldn't count on it if I were you, unless they had a major change of heart all of a sudden. Maybe they've developed a way in which to catch all RMT accounts without needing much manpower, but somehow I doubt it.

I don't see where Kieron says anything is changing regarding GTCs.
The block of text he quotes in his reply deals with isk-for-cash and GTCs, and its not clear which he is referring to.
I'm not saying that GTC rules aren't going to change, but assuming that's what he means from that one post is premature.

Although i could spend the RL-cash easily on 2 or more accounts, i am paying for them with isk i earn in-game. It provides a challenge to me, earning enough money to pay for 2 accounts and still have a surplus.
If i cannot buy a GTC for iskies anymore, i will drop my 2nd account.
I think it is great for people who are short on cash to pay for their playtime with isk.

I hope that they just change the mechanism, how gametime is sold for isk. Like that it doesn't work via exchanging keys anymore.
That could already stop resellers and scammers.
And if they implement an extra mechanism to transfer gametime, it could also be better traceable, who sells how many keys to whom, so maybe CCP could even implement limits.

i dont know how many of you heard that speach that guy from goon swarm made, but i found it interesting
he rabbited on for a bit and then the subject of paying for war came up and he said, and this is not word for word, "oh its ok if we run out of isk we can always buy game time cards and sell them"
is that really right ? that an alliance can buy unlimited resources with real life money ? seems very wrong to me
now i am actually in favour of a single player being able to buy himself a few months of game time from his isk wallet but when alliances start organising sales of gtc as a source of income in the game, well i think its time to clamp down
that imo is against the spirit of eve

Well, as long as I can keep paying for my accounts with ISK it's fine by me.
However. IF CCP makes it mandatory to pay for all accounts with RL-cash I think we will have a problem.....

IMO they are not gonna ban GTC/ISK sales completly, but obviously they want to kill the reversed chain (ISK->GTC->$$$) and also probably remove mass GTC sellers.
How? If they created web tool for exchanging GTCs, where it limits how many GTCs can NON-trial account purchase from (CCP for $$$ || other players for ISK) per month and restrict each GTC to only one ownership change, most of problems are solved.
Well at least I hope so.  You may say that ppl having multiple accounts just becouse they don't have to pay for them is bad for game, or that ppl who have RL $$$ can get unfair advantage by buying ISK, but with no GTC/ISK trade, situation is similiar. RL rich players can support as many accounts as they want, while those with less RL cash can't. RL money would be buying an advantage again. And TBH, having more accounts is IMO way bigger advantage than ability to buy some ISKies.

What will probebly happen is that GTC's become a item ingame tied to your account (i.e you dont carry it), thus to trade one for isk removes the element of scamming.
There is a very serious scam going about just now, where people with disposable alt accounts can cry "scam" on themselves to get Free isk from GM's. I cannot see the current system last that much longer tbh.

I can't help but think that, given their past policy of endorsing it, all CCP will do is setup a system which removes the possibility of scams and hopefully makes tracking it easier so ISK farmers can be spotted.

While ISK >> GTC is good for the community its is bad for CCP.
GTC sellers took over and CCP were left out the loop, yes they still got cash but it is seen that they themselves are supporting the isk/cash laundering system
I do not support the buying of GTC's for isk and a corp mate of mine buys his GTC's that way. Yes it helps those players who cannot afford the game sub but it could also mean that ther are players out there who never part with RL cash to play the game.
I origionally** paid my gameplay with GTC's as i believed that it was more secure and alot more convenient for me but they gimped that and i changed to DD now i never look back cause DD has been alot cheaper due to the good exchange rates :)
